What Programs do we offer? - Here's a quick look?


South London Baseball Offers a variety of programs for all skill levels, ages and genders. Each program has been designed to teach the ideals of sportsmanship, camaraderie and provide our youth an environment in which to play baseball that is supportive and focuses on having fun. As such, South London Baseball promotes the concept of True Sport, an initiative that supports fair play and friendly competition. For more information about this initiative please read below.


TYPES OF PROGRAMS OFFERED

Below you will find a brief overview of our programs, what their intended purpose is and the age groups they are designed for. For more information regarding any of these programs please click on the right hand corresponding program page or feel free to contact us at anytime.

Co-Ed Learn To PlayCOED learn-to-play
(Ages 5-9)

 

These programs have been designed to teach kids the basics of baseball. Programs are designed to require minimal travel (T-ball requires no travel) and participants are encouraged to have fun and try as many positions as they can. Competitive programs are not offered and parents are encouraged to get involved with the team.

Youth BaseballHouse League Programs
(Boys Ages 10-22 and Girls Ages 9-21)

House League Programs are designed to provide youth with a fun and encouraging atmosphere where they can enjoy the sport and develop friendships. The league requires minimal travel to balance with a families busy lifestyle.The program is divided into age divisions and different types of baseball are offered as outlined below:

 

 

House League Hardball:

- Coed house league baseball program (classified as "Boys Programs")

- Overhand "MLB" Style Pitching

- Travel includes London and surrounding area (no further than Komoka, St. Thomas, Dorchester)

- 1 Game and 1 Practice per week on average

 

House League Fastball:

- GIRLS ONLY

- "Windmill" Style pitching

- Travel includes London and surrounding area (no further than Komoka, St. Thomas, Glanworth, Dorchester etc.)

- 1 game and 1 practice per week on average

Select Program select Program
(Boys Ages 10-13)

The peewee select program is open only to mosqutio and peewee aged players in hardball programs due to restrictions by our governing body.This program is designed to bridge the gap between house league and competitive programs and is currently a trial league within the city. A slightly larger commitment is required with more games but travel remains that same as house league programs. Tournaments remain optional.

 

Summary of Select

 

- Open to Mosquito or Peewee aged hardball players only (Ages 12-13)

- Season consists of more games than house league (roughly 20-22)

- Teams practice a minimum of once per week and a maximum of twice

- The program is designed to bridge the gap between house league and competitive to further develop player skills

Youth BaseballCompetitive Programs
(Boys Ages 8-21 and Girls Ages 8-21)

Competitive programs are designed to give kids a place to play that develops their skill level and encourages their positive development in sport. As such, they are designed to promote fun and participation as well as winning and doing your best. Our competitive programs require tryouts for all participant. For Boys (Only) participation is restricted based on where you live. Read the Boys Program Boundary page for more boundary information.


Boys Competitive Programs (Ages 8-21)

- Competitive environment

- Tryouts are mandatory & Program Boundaries are In Effect

- Governed by the London and District Baseball Association

- Tournament play is an expectation

- Anticipate 2 games and 2 practices per week

Girls Competitive Programs (Ages 8-21)

- Competitive environment

- Tryouts are mandatory, currently there are no program boundaries

- Governed by the Tri-Counties Girls Fastball League

- Tournament play is an expectation

- Anticipate 1-2 games and 2 practices per week

Youth BaseballSenior Mens Hardball Program
(Ages 22-65)

This program is run by our Sister Organization the "South London Giants Baseball Club" who remains finacially independent and is self governed. They are affiliated with us as an avenue for our players to move forward and continue playing beyond the programs we offer into their adult lives. The senior team is a competitive program and space is restricted to 21 players. Tryouts are held if necessary.
