South London Baseball Launches New Web Page!

Welcome!

By now you are probably well aware that we have launched a new web page for the league. What you probably don't know however, is that this coming season we have made changes to many different components of our program! Below, I have attempted to highlight the main changes and tell you, briefly, how they will impact your experiences this year.

Change #1: New Web Site

Obviously the website has been completely overhauled. We have done this in an effort to give our association a better web presence and attract new players to the league. It is our hope that this web page will provide a more interactive experience for our members to be stay informed. With our new Web Director, who will be taking the website over in January, we anticipate having this site up to date with information all season long, making it your trusted source for league news. Please, check back often to findout whats going on and how you can get more involved with YOUR league.

Change #2: New Online Registration Agent and League Management Software

At the end of the 2010 baseball season our board of directors did a complete review of our league costs and administrative processes. As a result we learned that our online registration and online experience for members was severely lacking. As a result we have teamed up with SportSavvy, an online service provider to help provide a better experience to our members.In the next few weeks we will be launching a complete league management software program for registration, coach adminstration, parks assigning and team building. How does this impact you?

Well, for 2011 you will now have access to your very own online management account where you track your stats, upload videos or pics, send messages to team members or post baseball related content. Additionally, coaches will now be able to cancel games at the click of a button, providing text messages and email notifications to all team members, no more waiting for that phone call. You will be able to get a real time view of your teams schedule and standings.

Parents jealous about this great access? Don't worry so were we, therefore we are providing all parents with their own user names and passwords to their families accounts. Now you too can access your childs pages, check schedules, communicate with the coach or other parents or just see what your childs been up to.

All of this is provided in a monitored, safe and secure environment monitored by our board members. We hope with this great new program our player experience will be improved and families will be better informed about what we do!

Change #3: Registration Fees

As mentioned above our board completed a review our league costs and administrative processes at the end of the 2010 season. Unfortunately, we discovered that our operating costs were not parallel with our expenses. As a result we have attempted to cut costs where possible and have successfully saved over $1,000.00 of unneeded costs. However, we still had a deficit that needed to be covered to ensure a sustainable operation. As a result some of our league fees needed to be adjusted this year. We regret doing so, but it was necessary and we kept those adjustments to a minimum where possible. Change 4: True Sport and In-Motion

This year South is taking a more active role in getting kids involved. We have teamd up with In-Motion, a Child and youth initiative within the City of London to help promote healthy eating and healthy physical activity among youth. As a result, watch for handouts at registration and challenges throughout the year to get you active. You could win free stuff just for playing basebal, how cool is that!

Also, we have team up with True Sport, a national initiative to better teach the principles of sport to youth. Principles include proper ethics, sportsmanship and fair play in sport activities, all values South London Baseball strives to teach our participants. Watch for your teams action kit at the first practice and get ready to have fun filled baseball season!
